New to employing? Start Up Support

Just about to recruit your first employee?

I will get you set up with an HR infrastructure bespoke to your business so that you have the right things in place for not only your first, but also your future recruits.

Legally you need to have a written contract of employment in place, and I can draft this for you to ensure that it includes all you need to safeguard both the business and your employee. I advise on other documents which may be useful such as a job description, staff handbook and new starter paperwork.

I provide vital guidance on what you need to know to set yourself up properly as a new employer, including delivering workshops to help you get up to speed with what you need to have in place.


HR Policy, Systems and Processes

Established employers may already have their HR infrastructure in place, but their needs as an employer will change over time as the business develops.

I can support you by reviewing your HR infrastructure to ensure that it continues to meet your changing needs in to the future.

Larger and growing businesses may need a more complex HR infrastructure, such as a pay and benefits framework, appraisal process and more detailed HR policies and procedures.

I am an accredited Partner of BreatheHR, a user friendly HR cloud based software system which has been designed for SME's and automates many HR processes, enabling managers to securely store employee data and monitor and calculate holidays, sick leave and other benefits.

Ad Hoc / Occasional HR Support

It is huge reassurance for smaller employers to know that they can call on me whenever they need, which may be to help with a restructure or recruitment, or simply as a sounding board on a staffing niggle.

It is better to check something out before it becomes a bigger issue and I provide ad hoc advice and guidance on the full range of management and employment issues, including disciplinary, performance, absence, dismissal and everything in-between!

Like the old “Pay as You Go” mobile phone contracts, charging is based on an hourly rate for advice, including telephone support, drafting letters and attendance at meetings.

I have the legal grounding and practical expertise, from having managed teams myself, to resolve any issue from niggle to nightmare.


Retainer / Continual Support

Retainer contracts are suitable for clients who prefer to pay a fixed monthly fee for HR support which is embedded in the company.

My retainer packages enables us to develop a long term and sustainable relationship, adding value to the business.

I understand your priorities and can be proactive to support your HR processes and administration, taking some of that burden off your shoulders.

The benefit of retainers is that I am known within the business and can work directly with managers, coaching them through employee issues, acting as a sounding board and identifying trends and areas which may benefit from additional resource.

I will review your HR priorities in order to ensure that my services are continually meeting your needs.

I aim to work as though I am your in house HR department - you can call on me when you need to but I’m not under your feet when you don’t need me!


Recruitment

I support you to attract and select the best quality candidates for your vacancies.

I act on your behalf as your in house recruiter, on a project day rate, not a sales commission.

A key element of my recruitment support is to assist you to design the role so that your recruitment is focussed on finding the most suitable candidate. I will plan the campaign and can support at whatever level you need, from advertising and receiving applications, shortlisting, screening, interviewing, offering, induction and on boarding.

I develop relationships with candidates to ensure that everyone, even those who don’t get the job, receive a good experience of the process reflecting positively on your business. 


Training, Development and Coaching

I regularly run briefings on all elements of employment and will design bespoke training for your business in line with your needs.

I am a qualified Executive and Business Coach and I love working with leaders as well as individual employees on a one-to-one or group basis.

I have various tools up my sleeves, including being accredited by TMSDI to deliver their team management profiles to businesses and clients. The Team Management Profile is a unique management and team development tool that gives you more perspectives on individual performance, high energy team working and organisational culture, providing feedback based on extensive research with and for managers into what creates personal success and high performance teamwork.

Typical project work I undertake includes:

  • Development of business values and support culture development;

I arrange a no-obligation initial meeting to discuss your needs.

I then provide a written proposal and quotation for your consideration.
